Again the Trahan Family Assoc. and the
Broussard “Beausoleil” Assoc. will join in a meeting and meal. This
will take place on
May 26, 2012 at “Mr. Keets” in Maurice, La.
starting at 10:00 am until
12:30-1:00 pm. The menu will be: ”Crawfish Etouffee and drink of tea,
water or coffee” the price at the door will be $10.00. There will be
waitresses walking around to take your order for drinks from the cash
bar, as we know some will want something a little stronger. The owner,
Gerard Baudoin, has his own crawfish ponds, so everything is fresh. We
will need an RSVP so sufficient food will be prepared. This will be a
private party, as he is not open to the public on Saturdays.
This restaurant is located on the main drive, just
south of the signal light at Gulf Coast Bank, on the east side of US167,
now with a turning lane.

Year 2011
The great event for our Acadian Families named GRAND RéVEIL ACADIEN or the
Great Acadian Reawakening,
was held all over Acadiana in October of
2011. Of special interest was the gathering of all families
that
wished to meet with all the other families on October 13, 2011 at the Cajundome Convention Center, Lafayette, La.
A registration form
was e-mailed to all known CAFA Family representatives. We had
responses from 17 families,
as well as other organizations - Tourist
Bureaus, Acadian Museums, etc. for a total of 36 tables, all manned and
offering information about the Lafayette area as well as the rest of the
state. If your family has not been very
active, very possibly the form
went unanswered. The turnout was outstanding from those families partipating.
The luncheon was well received, as well as the
other activities in neighboring towns and cities.
The Board of Louisiane-Acadie, Inc., the parent
organization and CAFA will be meeting in the next few days
and discuss
how everything went, what could have been handled better, and start
making plans for a possible
other Grand Reveil Acadien in the not too
far future. The contact person for each of our Acadian Families
will be kept informed.
