Again the Trahan Family Assoc. and the Broussard“Beausoleil” Assoc. will join in a meeting and meal.  This will take place on May 26, 2012 at “Mr. Keets” in Maurice, La. starting at 10:00 am until 12:30-1:00 pm.  The menu will be:  ”Crawfish Etouffee and drink of tea, water or coffee”  the price at the door will be $10.00.   There will be waitresses walking around to take your order for drinks from the cash bar, as we know some will want something a little stronger.  The owner, Gerard Baudoin, has his own crawfish ponds, so everything is fresh.  We will need an RSVP so sufficient food will be prepared.  This will be a private party, as he is not open to the public on Saturdays.

This restaurant is located on the main drive, just south of the signal light at Gulf Coast Bank, on the east side of US167, now with a turning lane.

Please email the number in your party to either Corwin at:  crbrouss@bellsouth.net, tel. # 337-984-3752     or myself at lgtrahan@cox.net

Vintage Photos Sought by LSU Health Sciences Center

I am Judy LaBorde and  I thought it might be wise to explain a little bit about our project.  It's a
website called "Hereditary Healing."  The purpose is to provide information about genetics in Louisiana to "regular folks," primarily Moms and Dads who have a genetic disorder in their families.   We first thought about doing this website as a result of doing the public symposium called "Genetics of the Acadian People" that was part of the 1999 Congres Mondial Acadien.  We could see that people had questions that needed answering with accurate information (there's so much misinformation about there.)

So, where we are right now is a draft of what this might look like.
Please keep in mind this is just a first draft.

http://www.test.medschool.lsuhsc.edu/hereditaryhealing2/default.html

We would very much like to include some vintage, old time photos of life in Acadiana, especially photos of families.  These would be photos that tell the story of the people, of the hard life they lived and their great spirit. If you can think of anyone I can contact about this, I would be so grateful.

  Sincerely,  Judy
