The flags of the fifteen (15) states that were carved out of the Louisiana Territory were presented by the Girl Scouts of the USA Service Unit 618, East Acadia Parish.  Each state flag was presented in the order they were admitted to the union.

The great state of Louisiana entered the union as the 18th
state in the year 1812.
The flag was presented by Ms. Karris Johnson, Rayne, La.


The state of Missouri entered the union as the 24th state in the year 1821.  The flag was presented by Miss Lea Melancon from Rayne, La.


The state of Arkansas entered the union as the 25th state in 1836.  Presenting the flag was Miss Claire Doucet from Rayne, La.


Texas entered the union as the 28th state in 1845.
The flag was presented by Miss Sonya Tauzin from Rayne, La.


Iowa entered the union as the 29th state in 1846.
The flag was presented by Miss Erin Doucet from Rayne, La.


Minnesota entered the union as the 32nd state in 1858.
Presenting the flag was Miss Kylie Terro from Rayne, La.

 


Kansas entered the union as the 34th state in 1861 an the
flag was presented by Miss Page Hanks, Rayne, La.


Nebraska was admitted to the union in 1867 as the 37th state.
Presenting the flag is Miss Nicole Kober from Rayne, La.


 Colorado entered the union as the 38th state in 1876.
Posting the flag is Miss Adrienne Comeaux, Rayne, La.


North Dakota entered the union as the 39th state in 1889.
Presenting the North Dakota flag is Miss Haley Fogleman
from Crowley, La.


South Dakota entered the union as the 40th state in 1889.
Presenting the flag is Miss Caitlin Clayton from
Crowley, La.


Montana entered the union in 1889 as the 41st state.
Miss Molly Thornton, from Crowley,La. presents the Montana flag.


Wyoming entered the union as the 44th state in 1890 and that flag is presented by Miss Maitlyn Comeaux from
Rayne, La.

 


Oklahoma was the 46th state to enter the union and did so in 1907.  Presenting the Oklahoma flag is
Miss Rusti Richard from Rayne, La.


New Mexico entered the union in 1912 as the 47th state, 109 years after the United States purchased the Louisiana Territory and was the last state carved out of this great land sale
 


Forty-five (45) years before the sale of the Louisiana Territory to the United States, the Acadians, deported from their homelands in Nova Scotia began to settle in present day St. Martin Parish, Louisiana.  The Acadian National Flag was established at the Second Acadian Convention in 1884 at Miscouche, Prince Edwards Island.  It is used to represent Acadians worldwide.  The Acadian Flag is presented by fourth year French Immersion student from Prairie Elementary School in Lafayette, La., Master Alex Wicker.


This flag was designed by Dr. Thomas Arceneaux in 1965 to honor the 200th anniversary of the arrival of the Acadians
in Louisiana.  This flag is identified with the Acadians who migrated to Louisiana.  The State of Louisiana made this flag
the official flag of the Acadiana area in 1974.  The Acadian Flag is presented by second year French Immersion student from Prairie Elementary School, Lafayette, La. - Miss Kelsi Wicker.
