MEETING NOTICE FOR THE GASPARD-PICARD-LAVIOLETTE FAMILY ASSOCIATION

(A NON PROFIT FAMILY ORGANIZATION)

An important GASPARD-PICARD-LAVIOLETTE re-organizational meeting is scheduled for 1:00 PM at the Kaplan, Louisiana High School Cafeteria on Saturday, May 1, 2004. Please make your plans now to attend this important meeting.

The purpose of this meeting will be to discuss and organize volunteer groups to effectively rejuvenate the GPL activities. Among the topics for this agenda will be:

I. Nomination & election of officers, board members.

II. Discuss ways and means of obtaining more volunteers for the three family groups of the Gaspard, Picard and Laviolette families. We have a dire need for more volunteers to help with our GPL data bases, to continue genealogy research for our German, Canadian & French roots. We need to expand our data base with more research & addition of more new family members & family trees.

III. Plan for the next GASPARD-PICARD-LAVIOLETTE FAMILY REUNION to be held in 2005. There will be need for volunteers to be part of the planning & scheduling of this next GPL Family Reunion. We will need more volunteers to plan this festive reunion including many volunteers needed to plan and carry out itineraries for everyone, including the young & children for all our families. A volunteer committee is needed to establish all the needs for this next GPL Reunion, including:

1. Selection of the site and place and setting up other committees with volunteers for the areas described in the following items 2 through 11.

2. Decoration and setting up the necessary tables and seating arrangements for the

3. Possibly setting up inside and outdoor activities for all generations of attendees,
including adults, teenagers and children.

4. Determining if meals and beverages should be served and then setting the agenda for these choices including possible sponsoring vendors and caterers, if necessary

5. Determine if entertainment groups such as local bands are needed and if a ‘Cajun
Style’ dance on the evening of the reunion would be needed and helpful.

6. Setting up the necessary volunteers to work in this reunion to sign in and badge
attendees plus other volunteers to direct them to the different areas where genealogy
data on their families can be seen via computers.

7. Having volunteers introduce the attendees to the people working with the GPL
Family Association and to the other attendees already present. We want all the
attendees to meet other brothers, sisters, cousins, uncles, aunts and friends at this

8. Volunteers to staff and work the memorabilia items to be displayed at the memorabilia display stations.

9. Volunteers to setup the computers to be used to display the Gaspard, Picard and
Laviolette family information and these volunteers to operate this genealogy
information to be shown to the individual attendees who wish to see the information
for their direct lineage and possibly their entire family tree, if they so desire to see it.

10. Adding more volunteers to work our the three family lineages for the Laviolettes,
Picard and Gaspard families. Please note that the Picard, Laviolette and Gaspard
genealogy volunteers have been adding family members to their data bases since
the last GPL Family Reunion in Abbeville. In addition work is still in progress to
search for more of the German Gaspard roots prior to our present 1699 and 1700
records to determine the French roots for Louis Pannier dit Picard in France and the
Jean Laviolette roots in both Canada and France. Note that Louis Pannier dit Picard is the step father who raised Simon Gaspard [Michel} dit Picard along with his own
children Jean Louis Pannier dit Picard and Marguerite Pannier dit Picard who married Jean Laviolette.

11. New volunteers are needed to aid our present Publicity/Membership drive chair
persons. A vigorous new membership drive, with more volunteers, is needed to aid
our present chair persons. We need to add more Gaspard, Picard and Laviolette
members to the GPL Family Association. We did have some success between 2002
and 2003 recruiting new members and volunteers. However, we must improve our
efforts in 2004 and 2005. We need to find new ways of increasing the
number of new members without mass mailing of thousands of copies of the La
Gazette G, P & L & associated membership applications any new suggestions from
the attendees at this meeting will be greatly appreciated.

IV. A vigorous new membership drive is needed to add more Gaspard, Picard and Laviolette members to the GPL Family Association. We did have some success between 2002 and 2003 recruiting new members and volunteers. However, we must improve our efforts in 2004 and 2005. We need to find new ways of increasing the numbers of new members without mass mailing of thousands of copies of the La Gazette G, P & L & associated membership applications any new suggestions from the attendees at this meeting will be greatly appreciated.

V. New ideas on how to increase the Treasury balance of the GASPARD-PICARD-LAVIOLETTE Family Association will be welcomed. We need more help in this area to successfully implement the proposed 2005 GPL Family Reunion and to continue with our important genealogy work for our families.

We had a good GPL Family Reunion in Abbeville, LA last year on April 25, 2003. We want to make the next GPL Family Reunion bigger, better and more enjoyable.

Tell all your relatives, friends and neighbors about this May 1st 2004 meeting. Invite them to attend or bring them with you. We need your attendance and participation.

Directions to the Kaplan High School:

For those of you coming in from Texas, Lake Charles, Baton Rouge, etc. take I-10. Then find the most convenient Louisiana Highway and go south to enter Louisiana Highway 14.

If you are driving in from the west on LA Hwy 14, drive through the entire town of Kaplan remaining on Hwy 14. The Kaplan High School is located on the left of the highway, once you have gone through the entire town proper.

If you are driving in from the east on LA Hwy 14, Kaplan High School is on the right side of the highway before entering the town of Kaplan.

Once you see the high school turn into Pirate Lane and park in the lot in front of the high school. The main front door will be open and someone will show you to the cafeteria meeting room.
