GREETINGS:   In the wake of the two hurricanes that hit our area we sincerely hope that all family members that were affected can make a fast and complete recovery.  God bless all that were affected. . .".

ANNUAL MEETING: Our annual meeting is scheduled for Saturday November 12, 2005 at the WOW Hall in Maurice in conjunction with the Trahan Family Organization meeting. You are invited to attend the Trahan meeting which starts at 10:00 a.m. and then at 11 :00 a.m. a jambalaya meal will be served for a fee of $5.00. It is a good way to meet the Trahan family group and at the same time enjoy a meal with them. The CAFA meeting will then start following the meal at approximately 12:00 noon. We encourage all Directors representing the various family organizations to attend. Remember all family organizations are entitled to a member serving on the board. This member is selected by the family organization. We have several family organizations that have not submitted anyone to serve on the CAFA board and we urge you to do so at the annual meeting. Hope to see someone from each family organization.

The agenda will be short since we do not have an election until the 2006 annual meeting. We will discuss several items including "Acadian Heritage Family Day" held in August as well as the French Immersion Program and how they have been affected by the two hurricanes. Other topics will be the aid received from Canada and France and how it is being distributed as well as CMA 2009 plans.

ACADIAN HERITAGE FAMILY DAY:    In one sentence we can summarize Acadian Heritage Family Day as well attended and financially successful. We want to express our appreciation to all the family organizations for getting the word out to their members.

We also want to thank the many individuals that helped with the various responsibilities such as ticket sales, opening ceremonies, booths, decorations and setup, meal, entertainment, and finally the Mass to end the day in a most fitting way. The tribute to Eddie Richard was well done and well received. It was a great day!! We can't thank you enough. Merci beaucoup!!

FAMILY MEETINGS:

"Famille Beausoleil" (Broussard Family Association) will hold a gathering on Saturday November 5, 2005 at WOW in Maurice from 10:00 a.m. to 1 :30 p.m.

The TRAHAN FAMILY ASSOC. will hold its fall meeting at WOW Hall in Maurice on November 12, 2005 starting at 10:00 a.m. with a Jambalaya meal at 11 :00. They have invited the CAFA Board of Directors and members to join them in their meeting and meal prior to the CAFA meeting at 12:00 noon.

The BENOIT FAMILY ASSOC. will not meet on Saturday November 5, 2005 in the Chalkley Room at Burton Coliseum in Lake Charles due to damages to the meeting site by Hurricane Rita.  The meeting will be rescheduled at a later date to be announced.
