Warren Perrin notes:

I represented Louisiana in Quebec during the August 15th Acadian Day activities. While there, I negotiated with a company for the translation into French of my book "Acadian Redemption", the biography of Beausoleil. Also, from Sept. 26-29 Dr. David Cheramie and I represented La./U.S. at the World Francophone Summit in Bucharest, Romania where we met with the leaders of the 55 Francophone countries of the world.

Famille Beausoleil and French Immersion

At the meeting of the Board of Governors on October 11, 2006, the Board was briefed on the needs of Myrtle Place Elementary School, the school sponsored by Famille Beausoleil.    This school is in need of  French Encyclopedia for students up to age 7 years. Our communication with Book Stores revealed that a retail price of $25 existed per book. Contact was established with the distributor of this book, and the distributor offered to sell books for $22 per book, and offered to also pay the shipping charges from Canada to Lafayette; a total cost of $565 was quoted to us.   Don Louis Broussard, the past Treasurer of Famille Beausoleil discussed the books, and elaborated on our involvement with Myrtle Place School and their French Immersion Program. Following the discussion, Charles Broussard made a motion for Famille Beausoleil to cover the cost of the books, and it was seconded by Corwin Broussard; motion carried.

Loubert Trahan, Special Assistant to President of CAFA (Confederation of Associations of Families Acadien) advised that CAFA was providing each French Immersion School with n check for $250 to assist them with their needs, and said that money could be applied toward the purchase price of the books. Mitch Conover asked the Board to amend the motion and provide the entire cost of $565, advising of the difficulty involved in such a transaction, and the delay created in obtaining the final delivery of the books.

This amended motion was made by Charles Broussard, seconded by Don Louis Broussard, a vote was called, and the motion carried.  The funds provided by CAFA will be utilized by Myrtle Place School for their additional needs.   It should be noted, that $325 of the $565 dollars voted on were   derived from the sale of a hand crafted replica of an Acadian House auction for the express purpose of aiding the French Immersion Program.

The replica had been presented to Famille Beausoleil prior to the passing of our late president J. Maxie Broussard, and auctioned at that time, with the funds set aside for use as needed for the Immersion Program. Mr.  John Leblanc, noted  throughout the Acadian Community of the world for his hand crafted replicas of famous structures  had created and donated the replica to Famille Beausoleil.

Mr. Leblanc has recreated homes, churches, schools, and mansions, most notable of his creations was the replica of the Church in Grand Pre, Nova Scotia. A replica of that famous structure is also on display at the Acadian Memorial in St Martinville.. A very special thank you to Mr. Leblanc from all Acadiens Descendants.
