"Beausoleil" MEETING/REUNION |

The Broussard "Beausoleil" Family Association held a reunion and general meeting on July 17, 2004. This was held at the Woodman of The World Hall, Maurice, La. where a good old-fashioned Acadian socializing, feasting on Chicken Stew prepared by very able Beausoleil cooks led by Richard Broussard, and attended by over 100 paid members plus several guests ensued. MINUTES: Meeting - July 17, 2004 WOW HALL MAURICE LA MINUTES OF MEMBERSHIP MEETING JULY 17, 2004 Meeting called to order by President Charles E. Broussard at 11:00 AM
on July 17, 2004. Members were asked to stand and introduce themselves. Don Louis Broussard, Secretary-Treasurer informed the members that in order to replace J. Maxie Broussard who died June 27, 2004, in accordance with the By-Laws and the Articles of Incorporation Charles E. Broussard, the current Vice President, has been elected by the Board of Directors to serve as President until the next election. A tribute to J. Maxie Broussard was given by Charles Broussard who had known Maxie for many years and by Don Louis Broussard who served with Maxie as an officer of the Association since 1999.Don Louis then read the beautiful tribute to Maxie written by Cheryl Broussard Perret and presented two laminated copies of the tribute to Maxie’s daughter, Debra Taghehchian. Copies of the tribute were made available to the members. Congres Mondial plans were presented to the members by Don Louis Broussard and detail instructions were outlined by Sandy Sagrera, Tour Director. Mitch Conover gave a genealogy report including information regarding his CD containing over 80,000 individual that were either Broussards or related to Broussards. Eddie Richard, President of CAFA was called upon to give latest information on CAFA'S or plans including the activities that are planned for 2005. Velma Broussard addressed the members on the status of the association’s merchandise and memorabilia. Don Louis Broussard gave the Treasurers report on the money in the Association bank account. He mentioned that over $700 profit has been realized from the sale of Georges Island book. Warren Perrin then addressed the group and reported that his book on Joseph "dit-Beausoleil" Broussard is now at the printers. A proof of the book will be available soon and he asked for volunteers to proof read and make suggestions. Warren gave a very informative account of the life of "Beausoleil" and the accounts of his activities that are included in his book. It will be available for sale at the Broussard Reunion in Nova Scotia at an anticipated price of $20. President Charles informed the members that the next membership meeting will be here at the WOW Hall, Saturday, November 13. Details will be given in the September 2004 newsletter. The current Board of Directors members were given notice that a meeting will be held at the home of Don Louis Broussard on Wednesday Sept 8 or 15 to plan for the meeting and the election of the members of the Board that are to serve for the next year. President Charles announced that he has asked Don Louis Broussard, Earline Conover and Billy Wayne Broussard to serve as a nominating committee to recommend candidates for President, Vice President and Secretary-Treasurer. The President asked if there was Old Business or New Business to be discussed-there was none. Meeting adjourned. Respectfully submitted by Don Louis Broussard The members and guests then enjoyed a truly delicious meal of Chicken Stew, Rice with a great gravy, Potato Salad, and Cole Slaw. The meal was cooked and served by Richard and Velma Broussard and their family. They did an outstanding job! A variety of tempting deserts were furnished by members of the Association.
